Pub News

No, no, not that kind of pub news. Google Images, really dropping the ball here.

My article “Through a Wood Darkly: Growing Up in the World of Lemora” was published by the fine folks over at Innsmouth Free Press last month. It’s an essay wherein I discuss the seminal (but still underseen) gem of Seventies midnight cinema, its literary antecedents, and the general coolness and mystique of its fairy tale-funk. Give it a read.

The other publication news comes courtesy of editor C. M. Muller. Thanks to him, my fiction will be making its debut in the second volume of Nightscript, due to land this October. My story “Pause for Laughter” will be premiering alongside tales by a host of incredibly talented authors, including Kristi DeMeester, Mike Griffin, and Matthew M. Bartlett. I’m chuffed, honored, and over the moon to be keeping company with them. More details as we get closer to the release date.

And a special “Thank you” shout-out to Richard Thomas, who has already heard several times how important his LitReactor class, “Short Story Mechanics,” was to the development of the story. Anytime my faith was waning that a tale about a somber clown-hero battling demons within and without during the Apocalypse would be anything close to sensible or enjoyable, Richard was there to act as a wonderful sensei and morale-booster. If you get the chance to take his class–they always sell out–do so at first notice.

Here’s a goosey toast that the rest of 2016 shall prove just as fruitful and rewarding for us all as these last two months.
